The Story:

J.P. Gauci is one of Hong Kong’s finest chefs and entrepreneurs. Single-handedly, he rewrote the multi-cultural restaurant concept in Hong Kong, at one time running six restaurants in a now very popular district known as Soho.

He has worked in some of the world’s finest restaurants and has built up an enviable reputation for creating classic and memorable dishes. His restaurant Copacabana overlooks a completely refurbished Chinese junk with full cooking and dining facilities and which languishes seductively in the calm waters of Repulse Bay.

This series will follow the Chinese junk down China’s Ancient Grand Canal. On board will be J.P. and another celebrity chef together with 10 apprentice chefs who will have to cook, eat and live on board the junk over a five week period. The apprentices will be judged on their interpersonal relationships, their cooking skills and their initiative and ability to find ingredients on shore during their travels.

Two apprentices will be voted off each week, eventually leaving a winner who will be appointed as one of J.P’s executive chefs in one of his many restaurant enterprises.
