Mark attended the Swinburne Film and Television School and graduated in 1975. In his class included such Australian notables as Ellery Ryan, Chris Oliver and John Ruane.
After editing "Queensland" for John Ruane and then working in the production office with Jenny Henry on "Raw Deal" he began his career in the editing room working for some of the most noted Feature film editors in Australia, Namely Ted McQueen Mason, Brian Kavanagh and Ken Sallows on Tim Burstall's "Eliza Fraser", Richard Franklin's "Patrick", Igor Auzins's "High Rolling" and Fred Schepsi's "Chant of Jimmy Blacksmith".
Mark moved to Hong Kong in 1978 and worked there for 16 years during which time he edited many Television commercials, Documentaries, Corporate and Feature films.
Some noted titles are:-
"The Colours of Hong Kong" a film that shows Hong Kong's many facets depicted in different hues of colour.
"Have You Eaten Yet?" a film that highlights all the eating possibilities Hong Kong has to offer. This film won awards in Berlin, and New York.
"Our Time", which he also wrote and produced. A projected multi-screen surround sound presentation of Hong Kong's History. This film features rare stock footage taken in Hong Kong in the early 1900's by Bealieu on his first camera.
"The Homecoming" a film commissioned by the SAR Government in 1997, which was shot over the handover period by five different crews using 35mm film and Digital video. The film is an emotional portrayal of the events of the time.
"Yum Cha" a 1 hour long documentary that traces the origin of the Yum Cha (Drink Tea) phenomenon and the role it plays in a modern Chinese society. The film has been shown by the National Geographic Channel throughout Asia in 2005.
"Becoming" a documentary about a young actress's quest to find herself set against the world of fashion and photography in London.
"Animal Asia Dogs" a documentary that depicts lives of dogs saved from the food markets of China.
"Simon and Daisy" an Australian feature film (co-produced by a Hong Kong company)
"Night Dreams" a Cantonese language feature film made by an international crew.

Mark is now part of Palmwood Pictures working on many diverse productions including the feature length documentary "Father Joe and the Bangkok Slaughterhouse".
